Yes, well...talking about information overdose (though it`s not necessarilly all useful and certainly not absorbed in a healthy, organised manner). But, I guess we all have to be gluttons every once in a while. The good thing is, my muses have not deserted me (in fact, they pay me visits in the most unusual and funny situations) and so I`ve put down my ideas and, officially, I do have a plan for the Narratives assignment on week 14. Still not sure where to shoot the whole thing though. Studio would be great, but I am a bit nervous about booking one cause I`ve never worked in one and I should learn my way around before starting the shooting itself (I have *some dignity, I don`t want to look a total A double S in front of my friends, who, presumably, will model for me). Memo to me, I also have to buy a few things to ` set the mood`...or mood the set (carton , foil, candles, pashminas...who said students were cheap?).
Oh, and have to pick up a topic for the SPP article for next Tuesday. The NOKIA Morph project seems really inspiring, in fact, the whole `change the interface, a.k.a. mouse and keyboard`s expulsion from computing paradise` is interesting mostly because it brings to mind memories of childhood dreams.
I remember watching cartoons or reading stories about robots and discussing long hours with my cousin about the feelings of robots. Well, I mean, it seems a bit to me as if the interface that is now still prevalent is somewhat exploitative (no, I`m not going to go all Bolshi now). We tell the machine what to do and it has to be done (otherwise we punish....brrr...formatting, reinstalling, debugging...we are some strict masters, that`s for sure). So, no wonder that we still freak out big time at contemplating the idea of computers coming to life and doing more than execute commands...because, let`s be honest, we know we deserve the backlash. Just think of good ol` HAL. Which of us wouldn`t be mad at people at work taking our gargantuan workload and effort for granted and trying to get us fired for the first tiny mistake (ok, not that tiny, not really innocent, but hey...those guys had it coming...and they deserved it)?
So, the deal is...you are going to be smart, i.e., be able to learn, that is, capable of observation...and believe me, soppy feelings and romance is just round the corner (sic!). And I guess it`s about time. When it comes to sensory delights (or pain), it has always been about ME, ME, ME (I mean, us).
That`s it for today. Feeling much better! I now am under the impression I`ve done something that might loosely be labelled useful...hooray for je!
